Week 49 Prompt: Craft
This week’s 52 Ancestors theme is “Craft.” My maternal grandfather was considered a craftsman. He was primarily a tool and die maker, a type of machinist. Eventually, he decided to work for himself and had his own private workshop in the basement of his home.
He took those skills and started to design and produce dollhouse miniatures made out of brass. My grandparents sold those miniatures around the country (can’t even imagine how big it could have been these days with the internet and sites like Etsy!). He taught my mom how to make many of the miniatures, so after he passed in 1982, she was able to keep the business going for grandma, until grandma died in 1989.
