Talk about specific birth, marriage and death certificates. Topics may include misspelled names, fudged dates, other anomalies that stand out in your records.<\/p>\n<p><!--more--><\/p>\n<p>This is an interesting topic, and in fact, I blogged about something related to this very issue a few months ago.\u00a0 In that <a title=\"James MULLIGAN Mystery\" href=\"http:\/\/genealogy.julietarr.com\/blog\/james-mulligan-mystery\/\" target=\"_blank\">post<\/a> I discussed how the month of death differed from the age at death on a death certificate.\u00a0 The problem was, there was no birth date indicated on the certificate so various other sources had to be consulted to sort this out.<\/p>\n<p>Most recently, I&#8217;ve been perusing the Cook County, Illinois birth certificates on Family Search&#8217;s pilot search.\u00a0 One of the nice things about this search is that it also searches by the mother&#8217;s name.\u00a0 Had it not been for that, I may not have come across the certificates for some of my relatives.\u00a0 Why?\u00a0 Because there were no given names issued on the certificates!\u00a0 Luckily, I had information from other sources so I was able to figure out which certificate belonged to which person.<\/p>\n<p>At the same time I was finding these, I read a post over at <a href=\"http:\/\/transylvaniandutch.blogspot.com\/2009\/02\/what-was-indexer-looking-at.html\" target=\"_blank\">TransylvanianDutch<\/a> questioning the indexing of these records.\u00a0 I followed the trail to <a href=\"http:\/\/chicagogenealogy.blogspot.com\/2009\/02\/missing-birth-records-at-familysearch.html\" target=\"_blank\">ChicagoGenealogy<\/a> and learned about Certificate of Corrections.\u00a0 I wonder if there are any of these documents for my relatives to indicate their given name.\u00a0 Some day, I will try to figure that out just to have a record of it.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Prompt:\u00a0 List some vital signs.
