in World War II.\u00a0 Below is a Certificate of Enrollment as a Temporary Member of the U.S. Coast Guard Reserve, dated 27 July 1945.<\/p>\n<p><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"aligncenter\" title=\"\" alt=\"\" width=\"504\" height=\"387\" border=\"0\" \/><\/p>\n<p><!--more--><\/p>\n<p>Below is the enrollment paperwork.<\/p>\n<p><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"aligncenter\" title=\"\" width=\"500\" height=\"641\" border=\"0\" \/><\/p>\n<p>Below is the disenrollment paperwork.\u00a0 So far, it looks like he enrolled on 27 July 1945 and was disenrolled on 30 September 1945.\u00a0 None of these papers indicate whether he participated in the war.<\/p>\n<p><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"aligncenter\" title=\"\" alt=\"\" height=\"641\" border=\"0\" \/><\/p>\n<p>Below is a letter to John from the U.S. Coast Guard indicating that he had been awarded the WWII Victory Medal.\u00a0 This medal was awarded to anyone \u201cwho served on active duty, or as a reservist between December 7, 1941 and December 31, 1946.\u201d [<a
