{"id":779,"date":"2010-02-13T17:35:00","date_gmt":"2010-02-13T23:35:00","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/genealogy.julietarr.com\/blog\/geneablogger-2010-winter-games-let-the-games-begin\/"},"modified":"2013-07-22T18:24:06","modified_gmt":"2013-07-22T23:24:06","slug":"geneablogger-2010-winter-games-let-the-games-begin","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/genealogy.julietarr.com\/blog\/geneablogger-2010-winter-games-let-the-games-begin\/","title":{"rendered":"GeneaBlogger 2010 Winter Games \u2013 Let the Games Begin!!"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" title=\"\" alt=\"\" src=\"http:\/\/lh4.ggpht.com\/_udfzp1vLXt0\/S3cpPlxqyFI\/AAAAAAAAFb4\/NJ4udFOVjYg\/GB2010_Overall%5B1%5D%5B4%5D.png?imgmax=800\" width=\"128\" height=\"128\" align=\"right\" border=\"0\" \/> It\u2019s time for the <a href=\"http:\/\/www.geneabloggers.com\/winter-2010-geneabloggers-games\/\">GeneaBlogger 2010 Winter Games<\/a>.\u00a0 I participated in the <a title=\"Genea-Blogger Group Games \u2013 Final Tally\" href=\"http:\/\/genealogy.julietarr.com\/blog\/genea-blogger-group-games-final-tally\/\">2008 games<\/a>, only a few weeks after I had started blogging.\u00a0 It was a great learning experiences, as I learned quite a bit about blogging and genealogy.\u00a0 I\u2019m psyched to participate again!<\/p>\n<p>So let the games begin!!!<\/p>\n<p><!--more--><\/p>\n<p><strong>My Flag<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>I\u2019m using the same flag I created last year.\u00a0 My flag represents the American, German, and Irish\u00a0 heritage of my family.<\/p>\n<p><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"aligncenter\" title=\"GBflag\" alt=\"GBflag\" src=\"http:\/\/lh3.ggpht.com\/_udfzp1vLXt0\/S3cpP4RoRsI\/AAAAAAAAFb8\/SGacha60OZM\/GBflag%5B7%5D.jpg?imgmax=800\" width=\"150\" height=\"100\" border=\"0\" \/><\/p>\n<p><strong>My Events<\/strong><\/p>\n<p><strong>Go Back and Cite Your Sources<\/strong> \u2013 I will be going for Platinum again, which requires 50 citations.\u00a0 After the last games, I\u2019ve been pretty good about sourcing information.\u00a0 However, with the update of Legacy, which included SourceWriter, I still have many sources that need to be updated to follow the correct citation format.\u00a0 I\u2019ve been working on updating them periodically, so this event gives me motivation to do at least another 50 within the next two weeks.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Organize Your Research<\/strong> \u2013 Going for Diamond again.\u00a0\u00a0 I will be completing Task A (organize 20 hard files), Task C (organize 20 photos), and Tasks E and B (scan 20 photos and organize them).\u00a0 I actually started Task A a few days ago, converting to the <a href=\"http:\/\/familyrootsorganizer.com\/\">FamilyRoots Organizer<\/a> system (developed by Mary E. V. Hill).\u00a0 I\u2019m maybe about halfway done, but ran out of folders.\u00a0 It will be finished once I get new folders.\u00a0 I\u2019ve been procrastinating on Task C, so this event gives me the motivation to get a move on\u2026I have all the materials to organize my photos, just haven\u2019t sat down to do it.\u00a0 Tasks B and E will be done together\u2026I always have plenty of photos to scan\u2026not sure that will ever end!!<\/p>\n<p><strong>Expand Your Knowledge<\/strong> \u2013 I\u2019m going to try for Platinum.\u00a0 Some of these I already do, but there are always more ancestors to work with, so I\u2019m pretty sure I can do Tasks A, B, and C.\u00a0 Task D has been on my to-do list for awhile, as there are many sources out there that offer help and guidance.\u00a0 As for Task E, I already created a <a href=\"http:\/\/www.wordle.net\/\">Wordle<\/a>, but I think I want to create an individual one for each of my grandparents\u2019 lines.\u00a0 Plus, I may try the <a href=\"http:\/\/worditout.com\/\">Word It Out<\/a> application this time around.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Write, Write, Write<\/strong> \u2013 I\u2019m going for Platinum.\u00a0 Last time, I completed Task A, but my blog has grown so much since then, it\u2019s time to do it again, and create a separate page for it (now an available option for Blogger).\u00a0 Task C is no problem, as I pre-publish my Tombstone Tuesday, Wordless Wednesday, and Orphan Photo posts.\u00a0 I haven\u2019t decided who to write a biographical sketch of for Task D, but I will get it done.\u00a0 I\u2019m excited to complete Task E, since the new feature on Blogger lets us create static pages.\u00a0 Currently, I have a link pointing to a post with a list of names, but I want to create a separate page with more information.\u00a0 I hope to participate in Task F.\u00a0 In fact, that reminds me, I didn\u2019t do Challenge 6 yet!<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>It\u2019s time for the GeneaBlogger 2010 Winter Games.\u00a0 I participated in the 2008 games, only a few weeks after I had started blogging.\u00a0 It was a great learning experiences, as I learned quite a bit about blogging and genealogy.\u00a0 I\u2019m psyched to participate again!
