Do You Know What This Is?<\/a>, for more information and a photo of the object.<\/p>\n<p><!--more--><\/p>\n<p>I posted a comment to her post earlier today, thinking it may be something similar to what I have, hence the reason for this post.<\/p>\n<p><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"aligncenter\" title=\"bonnet2\" alt=\"bonnet2\" src=\"http:\/\/lh3.ggpht.com\/_udfzp1vLXt0\/TB1ss1VeWMI\/AAAAAAAAFmU\/GryILFRHG5M\/bonnet2%5B3%5D.jpg?imgmax=800\" width=\"450\" height=\"338\" border=\"0\" \/><\/p>\n<p>When I was baptized, I had a Christening gown and bonnet.\u00a0 The bonnet is an heirloom bonnet, with the idea that it will be used when the baby girl marries and be passed down to her daughter(s).\u00a0 Below is a transcription of the card that came with the bonnet (and yes, I still have the original box).<\/p>\n<blockquote><p>Dear Little Girl,<br \/>\nThis bonnet was made for you<br \/>\nTo wear on your little head.<br \/>\nYears from now remove the ribbons,<br \/>\nCut the knot and pull the thread<br \/>\nYou will have a handkerchief filled<br \/>\nWith memories to carry the day you wed.<\/p>\n<p>When you have your own baby<br \/>\nTo this handkerchief return the ribbons<br \/>\nAnd the thread then you\u2019ll have a<br \/>\nBonnet for your baby made from<br \/>\nThe handkerchief you carried the day<br \/>\nYou were wed that was made<br \/>\nFrom this bonnet for your little head.<\/p><\/blockquote>\n<p>The photo above is what the bonnet looks like as a handkerchief.\u00a0 I did as the card instructed and carried it on my wedding day.<\/p>\n<p>The photo below is what it looks like as a bonnet.\u00a0 It was taken on 12 June 1977 when I was baptized.<\/p>\n<p><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"aligncenter\" title=\"bonnet1\" alt=\"bonnet1\" src=\"http:\/\/lh4.ggpht.com\/_udfzp1vLXt0\/TB1stUyhkjI\/AAAAAAAAFmY\/acK6D5p_Vko\/bonnet1%5B3%5D.jpg?imgmax=800\" width=\"447\" height=\"699\" border=\"0\" \/><\/p>\n<p>So, what do you think?\u00a0 Could Michelle\u2019s mysterious fabric be a bonnet\/handkerchief?<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>I am writing this post in response to a query about an unidentified piece of material that Michelle Goodrum found.\u00a0 You can read her post, Sorting Saturday-Time Capsule-Help!
