I set out to accomplish some lofty goals in 2023, but was not as successful as I&#8217;d like.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>So what did I accomplish?<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>\u2714\ufe0f Finish the ICAPGen accreditation process! I did it!!! I&#8217;m now an accredited genealogist \ud83c\udf86<\/p>\n\n\n\n<!--more-->\n\n\n\n<p>\u274c Finish writing my book. Nope, not this year. I did get a good amount of writing done early in the year, so I&#8217;m about a quarter (maybe a third?) of the way done \ud83d\udcda<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>\u274c Finish at least one of Katherine Schober\u2019s courses, preferably the <em>German for Genealogists<\/em> course. Nope, didn&#8217;t even make any progress \ud83d\ude22<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>\u274c Publish at least one short guide\/booklet. Nope, didn&#8217;t happen, but I do have a plan for one \ud83e\udd2a<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>\u274c Write at least one article for publication. Nope, didn&#8217;t even send out any queries. Although, technically, I did have an article published in the January 2023 issue of <em>Internet Genealogy<\/em> (&#8220;Watch YouTube Videos to Grow Your Genealogy Skills&#8221;), but it was written and submitted in 2022 \u2712\ufe0f<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>\u2714\ufe0f Attend two institutes (maybe three). I attended four \ud83e\udd29<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li><em>Bridging the Gap: New England to the Midwest, 1780\u20131850<\/em> with Josh Taylor at SLIG <br><\/li>\n\n\n\n<li><em>Mastering the Art of Documentation<\/em> with Tom Jones at GRIP<br><\/li>\n\n\n\n<li><em>Researching New York<\/em> with Karen Mauer Jones at IGHR<br><\/li>\n\n\n\n<li><em>Advanced Evidence Analysis Practicum<\/em> (second time) with Angela McGhie at SLIG Fall Virtual<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<p>\u2754 Keep building\/testing my genealogy research hub in <a href=\"https:\/\/notion.grsm.io\/ivo2si0sbkdw\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\" title=\"\">Notion<\/a>. I did spend a decent amount of time on this, but it&#8217;s still not ready for prime time \ud83e\udd14<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>\u2714\ufe0f Not on my list, but an accomplishment nonetheless, was digitizing all of the slides and films in my possession. I ended up sending the items to <a href=\"https:\/\/www.forever.com\/sign_up?referral_token=julie-tarr\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\" title=\"\">FOREVER<\/a>. They did a great job, better than I could have done (and it saved me a lot of time I didn&#8217;t have!) \ud83d\udcf7<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>\u2714\ufe0f Also not on my list was getting the <em>APG Quarterly<\/em> caught up. When I took over in August 2022, it was several issues behind. With the help of my team, I managed to get us caught up in March 2023 \ud83c\udf87<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Here&#8217;s what&#8217;s on tap for 2024:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>\u27a1\ufe0f Complete the Copyediting Certificate Program through Writer&#8217;s Digest.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>\u27a1\ufe0f Attend one institute (maybe two). This year it will be SLIG Spring Virtual, <em>Gothic Script and Fraktur Workshop<\/em> with Warren Bittner and possibly something at IGHR or GRIP.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>\u27a1\ufe0f Finish writing my book.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>\u27a1\ufe0f Continue working on my genealogy hub in <a href=\"https:\/\/notion.grsm.io\/ivo2si0sbkdw\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\" title=\"\">Notion<\/a>.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>\u27a1\ufe0f Finish Katherine Schober&#8217;s <em>German for Genealogists<\/em> course.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>\u27a1\ufe0f Publish at least one short guide\/booklet. This will hopefully be accomplished in Q1 \ud83e\udd1e<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>So what about you?
