Letter, 4 July 1940"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>A continuation of letters written by my great-grandfather, George Rottman.\u00a0 The letters were written to his children while he was away from home visiting family in Iowa and Wisconsin in the 1940s.<\/p>\n<p><!--more--><\/p>\n<p>Although this year is not indicated in the letter, I am pretty sure it was written in 1940, same as the two previous height=\"646\" border=\"0\" \/><\/p>\n<hr \/>\n<blockquote><p>Lisbon Ia<br \/>\n4th of July A.M.<\/p>\n<p>Dear Children<\/p>\n<p>Just a few lines in ans to receipt of your letter glad to hear from you.\u00a0 We are all well.\u00a0 The reason I am writing is to let Ed know the fish are biting much better now.\u00a0 I caught one catfish 17 in one 13 and 2 white perch down on that gravel sand bar But I cant go at the right time.\u00a0 Like to-day I have to wait for Sis [Anna] and Jake [Hoag] well we will get down there about 10 oColock [sic] then I will wait till after dinner so you see the best fishing time is gone There seems to be a lot of bass chasing numerous on the gravel bar but I havnt caught any yet dont use the right tactics I guess well there isnt much new out here and I want to mail this on the way down home so you will get it Sat so if Ed wants to come out I think he can get some fishing.<\/p>\n<p>With Love to
