He was primarily a tool and die maker, a type of machinist. Eventually, he decided to work for himself and had his own private workshop in the basement of his home.<\/p>\n<p><!--more--><\/p>\n<p><a href=\"http:\/\/julietarr.com\/genealogy\/blog\/images\/0e2192376490_A381\/Photo1.jpg\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" title=\"Photo1\" style=\"border-top: 0px; border-right: 0px; background-image: none; border-bottom: 0px; float: none; padding-top: 0px; padding-left: 0px; margin-left: auto; border-left: 0px; display: block; padding-right: 0px; margin-right: auto\" border=\"0\" alt=\"Photo1\" src=\"http:\/\/julietarr.com\/genealogy\/blog\/images\/0e2192376490_A381\/Photo1_thumb.jpg\" width=\"404\" height=\"272\"><\/a> <\/p>\n<p>He took those skills and started to design and produce dollhouse miniatures made out of brass. My grandparents sold those miniatures around the country (can\u2019t even imagine how big it could have been these days with the internet and sites like Etsy!).
