Better late than never, I suppose, so here we go!

The Federation of Genealogical Societies will be holding their annual conference from August 31 to September 3, 2016 in Springfield, Illinois. Genealogy conferences are a great place to immerse yourself in all things genealogy. There are numerous lectures to choose from, exciting events for socializing, and a large exhibit hall to peruse. And, you get to hang out with like-minded people who don’t mind if you ramble on about all the ancestors hiding in your family tree.

If you haven’t already registered, you can head over to the FGS Conference website and do so. There, you will also find the entire program, along with all the special events. Be sure to register early, since luncheons and events tend to fill up; plus you don’t want to miss out on the discounted registration rate, which expires on July 1.

To give you a taste of what’s to come, I’ll share with you some of the lectures I plan to attend:

“Tracking a Community Research Project with ResearchTies™” – Jill Crandall

“Embracing Change and Steering a Course: Mapping a Direction for Your Society” – Curt Witcher

“Chicago Research: Planning is the Key to Success” – Jeanne Larzalere Bloom

“Italian Genealogy Research in Italy and from Home” – Mary Tedesco

“Researching Midwestern River People” – Paula Stuart-Warren

“The Wisconsin Historical Society Library and Archives: What is in it?
