I\u2019m glad to see that this multi-year project has finally resulted in the publication of <em><a href=\"http:\/\/newyorkfamilyhistory.org\/global\/store\/new-york-family-history-research-guide-and-gazetteer\" target=\"_blank\">New York Family History Research Guide and Gazetteer<\/a><\/em>.&nbsp; Even though I haven\u2019t seen the book, I can only imagine how helpful it will be for those of us researching in New York state.&nbsp; Quoting from a recent press release, Jeanne Sloane, the Society\u2019s chairman, says, \u201cAs a reference for family historians, it is simply indispensable.\u201d&nbsp; I don\u2019t doubt it!<\/p>\n<p>Over 100 experts contributed to this comprehensive tome.&nbsp; According to the product listing, there are over 800 pages of information, including:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Chapters on major record groups and research resources, including the most up-to-date and comprehensive review of New York State\u2019s extremely complicated vital records system.\n<li>Information on research resources for sixteen major ethnic and twelve major religious groups that have lived in New York.\n<li>Gazetteers, maps, and research guides to each of New York\u2019s 62 counties, including the five boroughs of New York City.\n<li>More than 100 separate, categorized, special topic bibliographies vetted by genealogists.\n<li>Timelines of key events in New York history 1609\u20131945 that impact genealogical research.\n<li>An index of over 11,000 place names and place-name variants past and present, the first published gazetteer of its kind since 1872. <\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<ul><\/ul>\n<p>I\u2019m sure it\u2019s well worth the cost of $65.00 (NYG&amp;B members;
