<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"http:\/\/www.oakridgecemetery.org\/\" target=\"_blank\">Oak Ridge Cemetery<\/a> in Springfield, Illinois, has <a href=\"http:\/\/www.oakridgecemetery.org\/memorials.html\" target=\"_blank\">memorials<\/a> dedicated to <a href=\"http:\/\/www.illinois.gov\/ihpa\/Experience\/Sites\/Central\/Pages\/WWII_Memorial.aspx\" target=\"_blank\">World War II<\/a>, the <a href=\"http:\/\/www.illinois.gov\/ihpa\/Experience\/Sites\/Central\/Pages\/Korean-Memorial.aspx\" target=\"_blank\">Korean War<\/a>, and the <a href=\"http:\/\/www.illinois.gov\/ihpa\/Experience\/Sites\/Central\/Pages\/Vietnam-Memorial.aspx\" target=\"_blank\">Vietnam War<\/a>.&nbsp; While I have pictures of all of them, the Korean War Memorial is the only one where I have some names, those being Medal of Honor recipients.<\/p>\n<p><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" title=\"KoreanWarMemorial1\" style=\"border-left-width: 0px; border-right-width: 0px; background-image: none; border-bottom-width: 0px; float: none; padding-top: 0px; padding-left: 0px; margin-left: auto; display: block; padding-right: 0px; border-top-width: 0px; margin-right: auto\" border=\"0\" alt=\"KoreanWarMemorial1\" src=\"http:\/\/julietarr.com\/genealogy\/blog\/images\/24fa922f29c8_E7A1\/KoreanWarMemorial1.jpg\" width=\"504\" height=\"363\"><\/p>\n<p><!--more--><\/p>\n<p>The Korean War Memorial at Oak Ridge, was dedicated on 16 June 1996.&nbsp; According to the <a href=\"http:\/\/www.illinois.gov\/ihpa\" target=\"_blank\">Illinois Historic Preservation Agency\u2019s website<\/a>:<\/p>\n<blockquote>\n<p>The Memorial consists of a twelve-foot-tall bronze bell, with a diameter of twelve feet, mounted on a granite base.&nbsp; At the circumference of the bell are four niches, each with a larger-than-life figure representing a branch of the armed services.&nbsp; Inscribed on the base are the names of Illinoisans killed in Korea.<\/p>\n<\/blockquote>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>Again, I do not have the names that are presented on the base of the Memorial, but a few feet away are two markers, one of which has the war\u2019s statistics along with Illinois Medal of Honor Recipients.<\/p>\n<p><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" title=\"KoreanWarMemorial2\" style=\"border-left-width: 0px; border-right-width: 0px; background-image: none; border-bottom-width: 0px; float: none; padding-top: 0px; padding-left: 0px; margin-left: auto; display: block; padding-right: 0px; border-top-width: 0px;
