This collection is my <\/em><a href=\"http:\/\/www.diigo.com\/\" target=\"_blank\">Diigo<\/a><em><\/em><em> bookmark library targeted at genealogy. I created a list for each state, as well as a few countries and various topics. There is also a list for general genealogy resources. Over the next week or so, I will highlight some of these lists.<\/em><\/p>\n<p><strong><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" title=\"connecticut\" alt=\"connecticut\" src=\"http:\/\/lh4.ggpht.com\/-4kt3YPyLpxA\/UH8WJ0VtEzI\/AAAAAAAAG4w\/__Sm3kQZVt8\/connecticut%25255B4%25255D.jpg?imgmax=800\" width=\"150\" height=\"148\" align=\"right\" border=\"0\" \/> Connecticut Genealogy<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>Here are some of the Connecticut resources I use all the time in my own research.<\/p>\n<p><!--more--><\/p>\n<p><a href=\"http:\/\/www.cslib.org\/ctarch.htm\" target=\"_blank\"><strong>\u201cConnecticut Archives,\u201d 1629-1820<\/strong><\/a> \u2013 \u201cThe \u2018Connecticut Archives\u2019 are the papers and correspondence of the General Assembly, the Governor and Council, and other colony or state officials.\u00a0 Included in this collection are petitions, drafts of bills, acts, resolves, and other early government documents.\u201d\u00a0 From this website you can access the indexes to this collection.\u00a0 To access the actual records, you would need to visit the Connecticut State Library or, in some cases, you could borrow the microfilm from the Family History Library.<\/p>\n<p><strong><a href=\"http:\/\/www.cslib.org\/\" target=\"_blank\">Connecticut State Library<\/a><\/strong> \u2013 Tons of useful information about the library\u2019s holdings as well as information about genealogical and historical research in the state.\u00a0 Be prepared to spend several hours exploring all the nooks and crannies this website has to offer\u2026seriously!<\/p>\n<p><strong><a href=\"http:\/\/www.foundersofhartford.org\/\" target=\"_blank\">Society of the Descendants of the Founders of Hartford<\/a><\/strong> \u2013 This is a lineage society, but their website has a list of Hartford founders, each with a short biography.<\/p>\n<p><strong><a href=\"http:\/\/connecticut-genealogy.com\/\" target=\"_blank\">Connecticut Genealogy<\/a><\/strong> \u2013 Thousands of links to various resources for Connecticut research.<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"http:\/\/archive.org\/details\/boundarydisputes00bowe\" target=\"_blank\"><strong>The Boundary Disputes of Connecticut<\/strong><\/a> \u2013 Written by Clarence Winthrop Bowen, this book discusses the boundary disputes with New York, Massachusetts, and Rhode Island.\u00a0 Also includes several maps.<\/p>\n<p><strong><a href=\"http:\/\/connecticuthistory.org\/\" target=\"_blank\">Connecticut History<\/a><\/strong> \u2013 Lots of useful information about Connecticut towns.\u00a0 Most listings offer a short history of the town, photos, and additional resources to consult.\u00a0 There are also a variety of topics covered, including the Revolutionary War, Invention and Technology, Women, Business and Industry, and Architecture.\u00a0 They even have information on some famous historical figures such as Harriet Beecher Stowe and Samuel Clemens (a.k.a. Mark Twain).<\/p>\n<p><strong>A Digest of Early Connecticut Probate Records<\/strong> \u2013 Three volumes of abstracts from the probate records of the Hartford District for the years 1635 to 1750.\u00a0 The <em>Digest<\/em> was compiled by Charles William Manwaring.\u00a0 Each volume is indexed.\u00a0 The fact that these books are digitized and available online makes my life a heck of a lot easier when working on Connecticut families in the colonial period.<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li><a href=\"http:\/\/archive.org\/details\/adigestearlycon00unkngoog\" target=\"_blank\">Volume 1<\/a> \u2013 Covers 1635-1700<\/li>\n<li><a href=\"http:\/\/archive.org\/details\/adigestearlycon02unkngoog\" target=\"_blank\">Volume 2<\/a> \u2013 Covers 1700-1729<\/li>\n<li><a href=\"http:\/\/archive.org\/details\/digestofearlycon03manw\" target=\"_blank\">Volume 3<\/a> \u2013 Covers 1729-1750<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>Visit <a href=\"http:\/\/www.diigo.com\/list\/joodles77\/connecticut\" target=\"_blank\">Connecticut Genealogy<\/a> for the entire list of Connecticut resources, or visit <a href=\"http:\/\/www.diigo.com\/list\/joodles77\" target=\"_blank\">my library<\/a> to see my entire collection and other lists.<\/p>\n<p>I\u2019m always updating these resources, so be sure to check back regularly.
