This collection is my <\/em><a href=\"http:\/\/www.diigo.com\/\" target=\"_blank\">Diigo<\/a><em><\/em><em> bookmark library targeted at genealogy. I created a list for each state, as well as a few countries and various topics. There is also a list for general genealogy resources. Over the next week or so, I will highlight some of these lists.<\/em><\/p>\n<p><strong><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" title=\"michigan\" alt=\"michigan\" src=\"http:\/\/lh6.ggpht.com\/-UAAQAHWhd-c\/UH8l-p-E7OI\/AAAAAAAAG5U\/6aVXmhTHV_Q\/michigan%25255B4%25255D.jpg?imgmax=800\" width=\"150\" height=\"149\" align=\"right\" border=\"0\" \/> Michigan Genealogy<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>Michigan is one of my favorites states to research in.\u00a0 Here are some of the resources is use most frequently.<\/p>\n<p><!--more--><\/p>\n<p><strong><a href=\"http:\/\/seekingmichigan.org\/\" target=\"_blank\">Seeking Michigan<\/a><\/strong> \u2013 Digital records from the Archives of Michigan, including death certificates from 1897 to 1920, plat maps, various Civil War resources, and maps.\u00a0 Several other collections are also available.\u00a0 Click on <em>Discover<\/em> in the menu bar to see a listing of all the collections.<\/p>\n<p><strong><a href=\"http:\/\/libguides.lib.msu.edu\/MPHC\" target=\"_blank\">Michigan Pioneer and Historical Collections: Research Guide and Digitized Volumes<\/a><\/strong> \u2013 Volumes 1-40 (1876-1929) of the <em>Michigan Pioneer and Historical Collections<\/em> are digitized.\u00a0 These are great resources for Michigan genealogical and historical research.\u00a0 To access them, click on the <em>Digitized Volumes<\/em> tab to start.<\/p>\n<p><strong><a href=\"http:\/\/mmm.lib.msu.edu\/\" target=\"_blank\">The Making of Modern Michigan<\/a><\/strong> \u2013 &#8220;The Making of Modern Michigan is a collaborative project involving 52 Michigan libraries.\u00a0 It includes local history materials from communities around the state.\u00a0 Michigan&#8217;s unique heritage is represented through over 4,500 different subjects of photographs, family papers, oral histories, genealogical materials, and much more.&#8221;<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"http:\/\/quod.lib.umich.edu\/m\/micounty\/\" target=\"_blank\"><strong>Michigan County Histories and Atlases<\/strong><\/a> \u2013 Digitized versions of county histories and atlases.\u00a0 You can browse a particular book, or you can search for a keyword, such as a surname.<\/p>\n<p><strong><a href=\"http:\/\/bentley.umich.edu\/research\/\" target=\"_blank\">Bentley Historical Library at the University of Michigan: Research Tools<\/a><\/strong> \u2013 A wealth of information related to Michigan research in general, as well as information about the collections.\u00a0 Be sure to check out the Subject Guide for <a href=\"http:\/\/bentley.umich.edu\/research\/genealogy\/index.php\" target=\"_blank\">genealogy<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p><strong><a href=\"http:\/\/mimgc.org\/\" target=\"_blank\">Michigan Genealogical Council<\/a><\/strong> \u2013 Includes a listing of Michigan genealogical and historical societies and various research tools.\u00a0 They also have a really good newsletter that all Michigan researches should be aware of.<\/p>\n<p>Visit <a href=\"http:\/\/www.diigo.com\/list\/joodles77\/michigan\" target=\"_blank\">Michigan Genealogy<\/a> for the entire list of Michigan resources, or visit <a href=\"http:\/\/www.diigo.com\/list\/joodles77\" target=\"_blank\">my library<\/a> to see my entire collection and other lists.<\/p>\n<p>I\u2019m always updating these resources, so be sure to check back regularly.
