This collection is my <\/em><a href=\"http:\/\/www.diigo.com\/\" target=\"_blank\">Diigo<\/a><em><\/em><em> bookmark library targeted at genealogy. I created a list for each state, as well as a few countries and various topics. There is also a list for general genealogy resources. Over the next week or so, I will highlight some of these lists.<\/em><\/p>\n<p><strong><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" title=\"ireland\" alt=\"ireland\" src=\"http:\/\/lh6.ggpht.com\/-NffvMHeqJcs\/UH85eo6U_EI\/AAAAAAAAG54\/aSTaxDrrfbU\/ireland%25255B4%25255D.jpg?imgmax=800\" width=\"150\" height=\"120\" align=\"right\" border=\"0\" margin: 0px 0px 5px 5px \/> Irish Genealogy<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>Irish genealogy can be a little tricky depending on the time period.\u00a0 Hopefully some of these resources will help you out, as they have for me.<\/p>\n<p><!--more--><\/p>\n<p><strong><a href=\"http:\/\/www.irish-genealogy-toolkit.com\/\" target=\"_blank\">Irish Genealogy Toolkit<\/a><\/strong> \u2013 A great reference for Irish research.\u00a0 If you want to get your bearings in Irish genealogy, I recommend you start here.\u00a0 Provides useful information regarding various records types, if and where they are available, and how to use them.\u00a0 Also includes a handful of Ireland maps, as well as genealogy forms and charts.<\/p>\n<p><strong><a href=\"http:\/\/www.census.nationalarchives.ie\/\" target=\"_blank\">Census of Ireland 1901 &amp; 1911<\/a><\/strong> \u2013 Digital images of the 1901 and 1911 censuses are available through the National Archives of Ireland website for free.\u00a0 Note:\u00a0 There are multiple pages of the census including a household form, two building forms, and the enumerator&#8217;s abstract of a street or townland.<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"http:\/\/askaboutireland.ie\/\" target=\"_blank\"><strong>Ask About Ireland<\/strong><\/a> \u2013 Tons of resources including digitized books (they refer to them as eBooks) and informational articles.\u00a0 Visit the <em>Reading Room<\/em> for these resources.<\/p>\n<p><strong><a href=\"http:\/\/www.seanruad.com\/\" target=\"_blank\">IreAtlas Townland Database<\/a><\/strong> \u2013 Gives you the county, barony, civil parish, poor law union, and province for each townland.\u00a0 Knowing this information is necessary in order to figure out where to look for a particular record.\u00a0 If for some reason your search for a townland name doesn\u2019t reveal any matches, run a search on only the county and it will pull up a list for every town in the county.\u00a0 Sometimes the search is just wonky, other times the town may be listed as a variant of how you thought it was spelled or presented (one word versus two words).<\/p>\n<p><strong><a href=\"http:\/\/www.igp-web.com\/igparchives\/\" target=\"_blank\">Ireland Genealogy Projects Archives<\/a> <\/strong>\u2013 Various abstracts and transcriptions of records including cemetery, directories, newspapers, and vital records.<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"http:\/\/homepage.eircom.net\/~seanjmurphy\/\" target=\"_blank\"><strong>Centre for Irish Genealogical and Historical Studies<\/strong><\/a> \u2013 Various resources for Irish research, including a guide for both researching in the National Archives of Ireland and the General Register Office of Ireland.<\/p>\n<p><strong><a href=\"http:\/\/www.iar.ie\/\" target=\"_blank\">Irish Archives Resource<\/a><\/strong> \u2013 &#8220;This web site contains information about archival collections open for public research in Ireland. Its purpose is to aid researchers in finding collections relevant to their studies.&#8221;<\/p>\n<p>Visit <a href=\"http:\/\/www.diigo.com\/list\/joodles77\/irish\" target=\"_blank\">Irish Genealogy<\/a> for the entire list of Irish resources, or visit <a href=\"http:\/\/www.diigo.com\/list\/joodles77\" target=\"_blank\">my library<\/a> to see my entire collection and other lists.<\/p>\n<p>I\u2019m always updating these resources, so be sure to check back regularly.
