{"id":332,"date":"2013-04-18T09:49:00","date_gmt":"2013-04-18T14:49:00","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/genealogy.julietarr.com\/blog\/genealogy-by-the-states-week-15-kentucky\/"},"modified":"2013-07-02T20:53:12","modified_gmt":"2013-07-03T01:53:12","slug":"genealogy-by-the-states-week-15-kentucky","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/genealogy.julietarr.com\/blog\/genealogy-by-the-states-week-15-kentucky\/","title":{"rendered":"Genealogy By the States &ndash; Week 15 &ndash; Kentucky"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" style=\"float: none; margin-left: auto; display: block; margin-right: auto;\" title=\"Kentucky\" alt=\"Kentucky\" src=\"http:\/\/lh4.ggpht.com\/-OBa3afTycYc\/UW4bkVxgZoI\/AAAAAAAAIi4\/WRPU7jc6xG4\/Kentucky%25255B2%25255D.jpg?imgmax=800\" width=\"100\" height=\"55\" border=\"0\" \/><\/p>\n<p>I\u2019ve been trying to learn a little more about my husband\u2019s Williams family who lived in the area of Kentucky where Caldwell, Christian, and Hopkins counties meet.<\/p>\n<p>Back in December 2011, I learned the name of his great-grandparents, James Pearl WILLIAMS and Norma Ola \u201cNola\u201d BOYD.\u00a0 I then found an index entry for their marriage in 1905 in Christian County.\u00a0 And in February 2012, I retrieved their marriage record while I was at the FHL.<sup>1<\/sup><\/p>\n<p><!--more--><\/p>\n<p><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" title=\"Pearl Williams Marriage Record\" alt=\"Pearl Williams Marriage Record\" src=\"http:\/\/lh4.ggpht.com\/--vZ9573sfxw\/UW4bkqlreeI\/AAAAAAAAIjA\/GFrBX3kbGfA\/Pearl%252520Williams%252520Marriage%252520Record%25255B5%25255D.jpg?imgmax=800\" width=\"500\" height=\"110\" border=\"0\" \/><\/p>\n<p>Today, I found a marriage announcement in the <em>Hokinsville Kentuckian<\/em> at <a href=\"http:\/\/chroniclingamerica.loc.gov\/\" target=\"_blank\">Chronicling America<\/a>.<sup>2<\/sup><\/p>\n<p><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" title=\"Pearl Williams Marriage Annoucement\" alt=\"Pearl Williams Marriage Annoucement\" src=\"http:\/\/lh6.ggpht.com\/-kAyxyJOduII\/UW4blOpTZBI\/AAAAAAAAIjI\/xsr2819GAd4\/Pearl%252520Williams%252520Marriage%252520Annoucement%25255B4%25255D.jpg?imgmax=800\" width=\"318\" height=\"291\" border=\"0\" \/><\/p>\n<p>I know from Pearl\u2019s death certificate that his parents were given as James WILLIAMS and Lou DUNNING.\u00a0 Unfortunately, I have not been able to find anything on them in the censuses (Pearl would likely be living with them in 1900 as he didn\u2019t marry until 1905\u2014but I can\u2019t find them!).<\/p>\n<p>Working with the name James Williams across three Kentucky counties is not easy.\u00a0 But today, I managed to find a marriage index entry on <a href=\"http:\/\/ancestry.com\/\" target=\"_blank\">Ancestry<\/a> for a James Williams and a Luwandy Dunning, who married in 1873 in Hopkins County.\u00a0 Seems promising; Luwandy could equal Lou, right time, right place.\u00a0 So I plan to obtain a copy of the marriage record and see what clues it might hold.<\/p>\n<p>Making progress!<\/p>\n<hr \/>\n<p><strong><span style=\"font-size: xx-small;\">Sources<\/span><\/strong><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-size: xx-small;\">1.\u00a0 Christian County, Kentucky, Christian County Marriage Records, 1797-1971, 16: 28-29, Williams-Boyd; FHL microfilm 1,942,960.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-size: xx-small;\">2.\u00a0 &#8220;Williams-Boyd, Young People of Near Empire Married This Week,&#8221; Hopkinsville Kentuckian, 2 September 1905, p. 2, col. 2; digital images, Chronicling America (chroniclingamerica.loc.gov : accessed 16 April 2013), Historic American Newspapers.<\/span><\/p>\n<hr \/>\n<p><em><a href=\"http:\/\/www.hiddengenealogynuggets.com\/genealogyblog\/category\/genealogy-by-the-states\/\" target=\"_blank\">Genealogy By the States<\/a><\/em><em> is a theme created by Jim Sanders over at the <\/em><a href=\"http:\/\/www.hiddengenealogynuggets.com\/genealogyblog\/\" target=\"_blank\">Hidden Genealogy Nuggets<\/a><em><\/em><em> blog.<\/em><\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>I\u2019ve been trying to learn a little more about my husband\u2019s Williams family who lived in the area of Kentucky where Caldwell, Christian, and Hopkins counties meet.
