{"id":224,"date":"2010-06-08T18:56:00","date_gmt":"2010-06-08T23:56:00","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/genealogy.julietarr.com\/blog\/orphan-photo-63\/"},"modified":"2013-07-09T17:02:52","modified_gmt":"2013-07-09T22:02:52","slug":"orphan-photo-63","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/genealogy.julietarr.com\/blog\/orphan-photo-63\/","title":{"rendered":"Orphan Photo #63"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"aligncenter\" title=\"Orphan 0063\" alt=\"Orphan 0063\" src=\"http:\/\/lh3.ggpht.com\/_udfzp1vLXt0\/TA7Yj7w5nLI\/AAAAAAAAFlk\/8MMEhG7fG7c\/Orphan%200063%5B2%5D.jpg?imgmax=800\" width=\"500\" height=\"362\" border=\"0\" \/><\/p>\n<p>This is actually a portrait, measuring 20\u201d x 16\u201d.\u00a0 It looks like it may have been done in charcoal.\u00a0 A friend of a fellow DAR member found it in a frame on the side of the road.\u00a0 The friend salvaged the frame for herself, and gave the portrait to my DAR friend in hopes of finding a home for it.\u00a0 My friend turned it over to me knowing I collect orphan photos and try to reunite them with family.<\/p>\n<p><!--more--><\/p>\n<p>Fortunately, not only is the portrait identified, it includes vital data as well.\u00a0 The following was found taped to the paper backing of the frame.<\/p>\n<p><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"aligncenter\" title=\"Orphan 0063A\" alt=\"Orphan 0063A\" src=\"http:\/\/lh3.ggpht.com\/_udfzp1vLXt0\/TA7YkVEPXiI\/AAAAAAAAFlo\/WFNY58WmRqk\/Orphan%200063A%5B5%5D.jpg?imgmax=800\" width=\"500\" height=\"689\" border=\"0\" \/><\/p>\n<p>The portrait is evidentially Irvine and Anna Rebecca (Wertz) Bennett.\u00a0 According to the information attached, Irvine was born on 9 October 1848 in Southampton, Bedford, Pennsylvania, and died on 30 September 1909 in Curwensville, Clearfield, Pennsylvania.\u00a0 He and Anna Rebecca Wertz married on 22 June 1873 in Bedford County, Pennsylvania.\u00a0 Anna was born on 8 June 1853 in Bedford County, and died on 3 August 1920 in Clearfield County.\u00a0 They had two children, Georgia and Bruce.<\/p>\n<p>Georgia was born 17 March 1874 in Bedford County, married Harry Mellott about 1894 [1], and died on 16 April 1953 in Clearfield County.\u00a0 Bruce was born on 15 September 1876 in Bedford County, and died on 17 January 1899 in Curwensville.<\/p>\n<p><strong>The Search<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>Since the couple married in 1873, I started with the 1880 census, and found the four family members living together in Southampton, Bedford, Pennsylvania.
