{"id":1145,"date":"2008-11-18T09:36:00","date_gmt":"2008-11-18T15:36:00","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/genealogy.julietarr.com\/blog\/update-from-fridays-find\/"},"modified":"2013-07-12T23:22:42","modified_gmt":"2013-07-13T04:22:42","slug":"update-from-fridays-find","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/genealogy.julietarr.com\/blog\/update-from-fridays-find\/","title":{"rendered":"Update from Friday&#8217;s Find"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>On Friday, I had made some headway on my father&#8217;s line.\u00a0 You can read about it <a title=\"Busy Week and Genea-Finds\" href=\"http:\/\/genealogy.julietarr.com\/blog\/busy-week-and-genea-finds\/\" target=\"_blank\">here<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p>Over the weekend, I found another piece of information that pretty much tells me I&#8217;m a darn good detective.\u00a0 Below is a brief summary of the finds and why my theory may actually be fact.\u00a0 (I did send the letters I stated in Friday&#8217;s post and hopefully any responses will further my claim.)<\/p>\n<p><!--more--><\/p>\n<p><strong>2008-11-17 Research Notes for Theresa CAHILL<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>I am fairly certain that Theresa &#8220;Tessie&#8221; Karas, the person my grandfather John Francis CAHILL went to live with after his mom died, is actually Tessie CAHILL, daughter of John T CAHILL and Anna L GLYNN.<\/p>\n<p>I have the memorial card for Tessie, which has her death date as 17 May 1986; the funeral was at Rossi Brother Funeral Home in Youngstown, Ohio.\u00a0 From that, I was able to find her death record indexed on Ancestry in both the SSDI and Ohio Death Index.\u00a0 Both list her birth date as 8 August 1895.<\/p>\n<p>On an unrelated search, I came across as Theresa\/Tessie Cahill in the 1900, 1910, and 1920 censuses; father John T, mother Anna\/Annie.\u00a0 In the 1900 census, it lists Tessie&#8217;s birth as August 1895.\u00a0 At this point, I was pretty sure Tessie was family, and not a family friend as originally suspected.<\/p>\n<p>I then searched the Illinois Marriage Index and found a listing for a John T CAHILL and Anna L GLYNN, married on 27 September\u00a0 1892.\u00a0 This matches up with the 1900, 1910, and 1920 censuses.<\/p>\n<p>Tessie&#8217;s son&#8217;s middle name Glynn.\u00a0\u00a0 Because Tessie&#8217;s son&#8217;s middle name is unusual and happens to be Anna&#8217;s last name, this (along with the above information) solidifies for me, that Tessie Karas and Tessie CAHILL are one in the same.<\/p>\n<hr align=\"center\" width=\"50%\" \/>\n<p>So what do all you experienced genealogists think?\u00a0 Is this a shot in the dark?\u00a0 Is this considered &#8220;proven?&#8221;\u00a0 Do I need more proof?\u00a0 Leave a comment to weigh in.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>On Friday, I had made some headway on my father&#8217;s line.\u00a0 You can read about it here.
