{"id":1104,"date":"2009-01-02T16:39:00","date_gmt":"2009-01-02T22:39:00","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/genealogy.julietarr.com\/blog\/visiting-aunt-flo\/"},"modified":"2013-07-12T22:21:14","modified_gmt":"2013-07-13T03:21:14","slug":"visiting-aunt-flo","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/genealogy.julietarr.com\/blog\/visiting-aunt-flo\/","title":{"rendered":"Visiting Aunt Flo"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>In an <a title=\"For My Grandaunt Flo at Christmas\" href=\"http:\/\/genealogy.julietarr.com\/blog\/for-my-grandaunt-flo-at-christmas\/\" target=\"_blank\">earlier post<\/a>, I mentioned that I was going to visit my grandaunt, Flo around the holidays.\u00a0 I also posted images that I was going to frame and give to her.\u00a0 She absolutely loved them (I made her cry, happy tears of course).<\/p>\n<p>It was a great visit.\u00a0 It had been almost 20 years since I had seen her and my cousin, Inga.\u00a0 It was also an emotional visit, as we talked a lot about my dad and my cousin, Bob (Flo&#8217;s son).\u00a0 Dad died in 1989, so it&#8217;s\u00a0 a little easier to hear stories.\u00a0 Bob, however, died in 2007 so it was a lot harder to swallow the stories.<\/p>\n<p><!--more--><\/p>\n<p>I shared with Flo and Inga pictures of me and Bob at my wedding in 2003 and some from a vacation to Bob&#8217;s in 2000.\u00a0 We laughed, we bawled.<\/p>\n<p>We also went through my remaining stack of unknown photos.\u00a0 She was able to identify all but four (can you guess what photos will appear for this month&#8217;s Smile for the Camera carnival?).\u00a0 She came across a photo of &#8220;Nanny Hannigan,&#8221; who was like a second grandmother to her.\u00a0 I let her keep that one.<\/p>\n<p>I had printed off two descendant charts for her.\u00a0 She was kind enough to start filling in the blanks.\u00a0 She&#8217;s going to continue to provide information.\u00a0 And once she gets her Christmas decorations down and put away, she&#8217;s going to start scanning in the three boxes of photos she has.\u00a0 I, in return, will finish my scanning project and put it all on CD for her, along with a full genealogy report (run from Legacy).\u00a0 There was no ways I could print that 300+ page report and bring it with me!<\/p>\n<p>Flo just turned 79, and it&#8217;s amazing all the things she remembers!\u00a0 I look forward to filling in more blanks with her.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>In an earlier post, I mentioned that I was going to visit my grandaunt, Flo around the holidays.\u00a0 I also posted images that I was going to frame and give to her.\u00a0 She absolutely loved them (I made her cry, happy tears of course).
