Here’s a fun little contest for EVERYONE (including my non-genealogy friends). One entrant will receive a $100 Visa gift card, and two entrants will each receive a $50 Visa gift card.
This contest is related to the upcoming release of the 1940 US Federal Census on April 2, 2012. FamilySearch is preparing for the indexing of the census, and has created a few “simulation” batches in the indexing software for you to practice.
All you have to do is download the indexing software (if you haven’t already) and complete one of the simulation batches. For complete contest details and instructions, visit Weekly Contest – Week of March 19.
Remember, it’s not just genealogists and historians who are excited about the release of the 1940 census. Be sure to let your friends and family know about the indexing project and get them involved. If each one of my 900+ Facebook friends were to index just ONE page, that would amount to 36,000 people indexed…I think that’s a pretty big chunk! Be sure to sign up to become an indexer, even if you’ don’t participate in the contest.
