I just received my copy of the Fall 2012 issue of The New York Researcher, a publication of the New York Genealogical and Biographical Society. In it, they announce a new book that contains 500+ pages of information for researching your family history in the State of New York.
The book, New York Family History Handbook, contains “foundational research resources, individual guides to resources in each of New York’s sixty-two counties, and a complete gazetteer of places in New York—past and present.” It was a huge undertaking for the Society and it sounds like the publication will be well worth their effort.
According to the announcement, it looks like prepublication purchases will start by December of this year. Those wanting to receive notice should email NYHandbook@nygbs.org.
