Dear GeanaSanta,
This year I am asking for some unusual items that relate to my family’s history.
- An original, first-run edition of the Webster’s dictionary that my distant cousin Noah Webster produced.
- The desk that my 10th great-granduncle, Robert Treat, used during his time as governor of Connecticut in the late 1600s.
- The medals that were awarded to my grandfather, John Cahill, for serving in WWII.
Yours truly,
Julie
Posted for the 62nd edition of the Carnival of Genealogy.
That’s quite a list, Julie. I hope each and every wish comes true for you!
Julie –
Your third wish caught my eye – I realized a few months ago (during one of those AHA moments) that my Grandfather’s WWII medals were missing. In researching further, I found that they could be replaced, direct from the Armed Forces – not by purchasing them – if enough information could be found/given. Having all of his discharge documents, and the documents given with the award, I set out to do this… be careful. This is where it gets a bit tricky. If you’ve not attempted this yet, rather than spilling another three paragraphs here in your comments, I’ll talk to you about it further by email if you’d like. I also put info on this endeavor on my blog in previous posts. What a challenge it was but they’ll be here soon, free of charge, when they arrive all the frustration will have been worth it! Cindy
Wow! What a history you and your family have! Hope your wishes are granted.
Happy Holidays.
