Gosh, I’ve been meaning to post this for a long time. My application was verified over a month ago. Just been waiting for the NSDAR board meeting in order for my membership to be official…that will be this WEEKEND!!! At the same time, I will also be attending my first state DAR conference, which, lucky for me, is being held just on the other side of town…finally, a conference I can attend without travel expenses. Can’t wait!!
Congratulations on getting your application accepted! I remember going through the same process back in 1996, when I was 23. It took about a year to get the whole thing compiled, reviewed, and accepted, but I was so thrilled when it was done and I actually became a member of the DAR. You’ll love being a member of this great organization, and you’ll meet some wonderful ladies there!

What are the first steps to prepare for the application, Julie and Stephanie? Contact the local chapter? I’m so envious of you both! I really need to get busy on this.
I filled out the online form for becoming a member (https://www.dar.org/natsociety/pmd/prospective.cfm). National passes the information onto the state registrar, who then contacted me. She helped me determine the chapter that would be the best fit and passed my info onto the chapter registrar, who then contacted me. We talked and she helped me figure out the best approach to my application. You can also contact the chapter you are interested in, directly.
