It’s that time again!  The Southern California Genealogical Society’s 14th Annual GENEii Writing Contest is now underway.  Entries will be accepted from now until December 31, 2013.  You do not have to be a member of SCGS to enter, nor does your submission have to relate to California.  Entries must be family or local history articles, memoirs, or character sketches, which may or may not have been previously published. Entries for the 2014 International Society of Family History Writers and Editors (ISFHWE) Excellence-in-Writing Competition are now being accepted.  Submissions are due by June 15, 2014 (a discounted entry fee is offered for entries submitted by March 15, 2014).  Both ISFHWE members and non-members are allowed to enter the competition.  Here are the categories for this year: Category I – Columns. Don’t forget, entries for the National Genealogical Society’s Family History Writing Contest are due by December 31.  This annual contest is open to NGS members.  The winner receives a trip to the next NGS conference and their manuscript may be published in the NGS Quarterly.  This competition is a BIG DEAL so don’t delay! Submissions for the Dallas Genealogical Society 2013 Writing Competition are due by August 31, 2013.  You do not have to be a DGS member to enter and the articles do not necessarily have to be about Dallas genealogy.
