I actually have several very distant cousins who made their way to Utah, many of them ending up in the Salt Lake City area.  Because they are very distant, I don’t spend much time on them these days.  But, if I did have some time, I know of two websites I would hit up immediately for some information:  FamilySearch and Utah Digital Newspapers.

Nearly everyone in my database with a location that “contained” Wyoming hailed from Wyoming County, New York…not quite the Wyoming I was looking for.  Since I don’t really have anyone tied to the state, I thought I’d provide a list of resources I’m aware of that might be helpful to others.  If you know of others, please share them in the comments of this post. I don’t have too many ties to Montana, but I did manage to find a resource that may be helpful for those researching in Montana.  It’s the Montana History Wiki, which was implemented to help researchers navigate the Montana Historical Society Research Center.  There does seem to be some information beyond the Research Center, including Contributions from the Public.  Genealogists will find the Genealogy Guide helpful, especially if you are just starting to research in Montana. I just learned about the book, A Chicago Firehouse: Stories of Wrigleyville’s Engine 78, written in 2001 by Karen Kruse.  It sounds like an interesting read, so I’ve added it to my “To Read” list on Goodreads (I think I’ll add it to my Amazon wish list too, perhaps a Christmas present?).  It’s available in paperback, Kindle, and Nook editions.  You can even get a signed copy through the author’s website.  Another neat thing about the book, the foreword is written by former Chicago Bears coach, Mike Ditka.
