My Rating:
This genealogical mystery follows a young woman on her journey to learn the truth about her family after she discovers the father she knew may not be her birth father. The book is just like genealogy research, there are twists and turns, happy dances and brick walls.
I did enjoy the book, the storyline, and the major twist. Overall, the story is well-constructed. The writing is a little stilted and I’m not sure if that’s a UK thing or not. Nonetheless, I found myself sharing in the joys and sorrows the main character experienced throughout her journey.
The book is a little shorter than some of the other genealogical mysteries out there and could use a good editor, but for a $0.99 Kindle book, it’s not a bad read.
Purchase It’s In the Genes on Amazon: Kindle.
I love your blog for so many different reasons.
You would think as much time as I spend researching genealogy, I would be ready for something different when I sit down to read for pleasure, but I find myself drawn to the genealogy mysteries, so I really appreciate your book reviews.
Glad you enjoy them. I’ve read many of the genealogy mysteries out there, but lately have been drawn to only them…probably because I don’t have time to do much in the way of my own research. Gotta get my fix somehow, right?
