Week 50 Prompt: Tradition
This week’s 52 Ancestors theme is “Tradition.” Since it’s almost Christmas, holiday traditions popped into my head. Memories of Christmas at grandma and grandpa’s house, with my parents, aunt, uncle, and cousins. I remember that I always got to open my presents first because we went in order from youngest to oldest. I would drive my cousins crazy, taking my sweet time unwrapping my gifts (as I got older, this was mostly deliberate!).
I also remember a big turkey dinner with all the fixings: mashed potatoes, sweet potatoes (yuck!), stuffing, peas and/or corn, gravy, and cranberry sauce. I’m sure there were pies, but since I didn’t eat them, I don’t really remember; but I do remember there was always a Jell-O mold. It’s been over thirty years since we were all together. I do miss those times.
