In my last post, I reviewed my resolutions for 2011. Now it’s time to get down to business and set some goals for 2012. Here we go…
1. BCG Certification – My main goal is to “start the clock” this year for BCG certification. Almost a year ago, I began to figure out what I was going to do for each part of my portfolio. With all the craziness in 2011, it was not possible for me to conduct the remaining research needed to complete those projects. These last few weeks have been spent getting some of that research done to put me closer to this goal. While I may not be certified by the end of 2012, I should be on my way toward building and submitting my portfolio for evaluation.
2. Publishing Articles – In general, I’d like to publish more articles this year (especially since I don’t think I had any published last year). Also, this year, I’d like to submit articles to different publications than where I normally submit.
That’s it! Just two goals…piece of cake, right?
Just curious — what kind of articles have you had published and where? What kind of different journals are you considering. I’ve had three articles published so far, but only one was in a truly professional journal. Knowing what I know now, I’m almost afraid to submit.
@Kathy – Most of my articles have been “how-to” in nature and mainly published in the Illinois State Genealogical Society Quarterly. I’d like to expand my how-to articles into other markets, particularly magazines such as Family Tree Magazine and Family Chronicle. In addition, I’d also like to work on research articles and case studies and submit to journals related to the geographical location of the research. I had to put a lot of things on hold over the course of the last 18 months for various reasons, but I’m determined to get back in the swing of things and start moving forward.
What type of articles did you have published and where? Maybe we can swap tips 🙂
Admiring the time and energy you put into your blog and in depth information you offer. It’s nice to come across a blog every once in a while that isn’t the same outdated rehashed material. Excellent read! I’ve bookmarked your site and I’m adding your RSS feeds to my Google account.
